Cambridge Audio L/R M Bookshelf Speakers

Cambridge Audio L/R M Bookshelf Speakers

This product is available to pre-order with an ETA of late September.

Combining the engineering ambition of the flagship L/R X with a more compact, room-flexible form, L/R M is a stereo speaker pair that delivers a sense of power, precision and musical engagement that defines the L/R Series.

Based on the foundations of the award-winning StreamMagic streaming platform, L/R M cleverly folds audio innovations into an impossibly compact cabinet. Like its larger L/R X sibling, L/R M welcomes the high-performance TorusTM tweeter, a dual-woofer system and force-cancelling dual passive radiators to deliver a scale and precision of sound that has to be heard to be believed.

L/R M launches alongside the flagship L/R X, and the extremely compact, pared-back L/R S to form the all-new L/R Series.

The TorusTM Tweeter – Perfect Clarity For Every Listener

Designed to deliver vibrant, detailed sound into a wide range of spaces, L/R M uses the same core acoustic principles as its larger sibling, L/R X, utilising a 2.5-way configuration and Cambridge Audio’s proprietary 28mm TorusTM tweeter to create a wide, immersive soundstage that’s equally suited to focused album listening or playlists that carry you through the day.

The TorusTM tweeter represents a new approach to high-frequency reproduction, delivering exceptional clarity, improved sensitivity and hyper-realistic imaging at any volume. Its distinctive doughnut-shaped rear chamber forms a tapered internal horn that fully absorbs rear energy, preventing reflections and dramatically reducing harmonic distortion.

A 28mm dual-radius aluminium dome offers 25% more surface area than a traditional 25mm design to displace air more efficiently, while a custom waveguide and phase cap ensure excellent on- and off-axis performance. The result is treble that feels open, precise and effortlessly detailed, even if you’re not sat directly in the sweet spot.

Hearing is Believing

Low-frequency performance is equally considered. A pair of 4-inch woofers – one on the front and one discreetly integrated into the base – work alongside dual 4.75-inch force-cancelling passive radiators to deliver deep, controlled bass without the need for a separate subwoofer. The design provides the weight and impact of a much larger system while maintaining poise and musicality.

This architecture also allows for transparent protection and long-term reliability, so listeners can turn the music up with confidence.

Power is delivered by 300W of Class D amplification – 150W per speaker – perfectly optimised around every element for maximum performance.

The result is scale, depth and impact that seems impossible from such a small speaker. Bass you don’t just hear, you also feel; a soundstage so wide and textured, you’ll want to reach out and try to touch it.

A 64-bit audio pipeline, offering many times the precision of most systems, preserves the subtle musical detail. L/R M also integrates Cambridge’s DynamEQ technology for keeping music perfectly balanced, even at lower volumes. By subtly adjusting bass and treble through the volume curve, DynamEQ guarantees that every track sounds full and natural, no matter your listening level.

Next-Generation Connectivity and Control

At the heart of L/R M is Cambridge Audio’s StreamMagic platform, offering high-resolution streaming over Wi-Fi or Ethernet from leading music services including Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music and more. Support for ROON, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, UPnP and Internet radio ensures effortless control and futureproof flexibility. Multi-room capability is also provided via AirPlay 2 and Google Cast support.

Connectivity extends beyond streaming, with HDMI eARC for TVs, a moving-magnet phono stage for turntables, Bluetooth for easy sharing, and a subwoofer out for larger rooms. There’s also an analogue line input, TOSLINK optical input, and USB Media and USB Audio sockets. No matter how you listen or what you listen to, L/R M will improve the experience.

Speaker-to-speaker link is achieved via a robust USB-C cable at 24-bit/96kHz quality, giving flexibility to use longer or shorter cables as the room or placement requires.

Bold, Bright and Unashamedly Audio

Designed in London by Red Dot award-winning designer Ged Martin, L/R M balances clean geometry with expressive confidence. Cambridge’s signature “floating” base and subtle underlighting from warmth-adjustable white LEDs allow the speakers to feel calm and assured in any room. The lighting can also be turned off completely for visual minimalism.

A choice of finishes, including Black, White, Real Walnut, Blue, Green and Orange, complemented by the TorusTM tweeter’s anodised orange dome, lets users express their individual style.

Crafted for Modern Music Lovers

L/R M reflects Cambridge Audio’s belief that great sound should adapt to real life, to different rooms, different moods and different ways of listening. Powerful yet simple, refined yet expressive, it brings the emotional pull of music into the heart of today’s connected homes.

With intelligent engineering, effortless streaming and design that feels naturally at home, L/R M is made by music and made for the way you live. Proudly designed and engineered in London, UK.
